Abstract

Roads are exposure on different temperature and friction conditions. Production of high efficient flexible pavement is a solution of the resulted problems with operational time and climate changes. Using a recycled material is one of significant aspects in a sustainable road production process. Rubber has an advantage of keeping its nature under high temperatures and radiations. In Egypt, climate has big changes with high temperatures especially down of the country. The present study investigates the effect of adding CR on its weathering opposition and aging properties. It concentrates on exposure of the tested specimens by Ultraviolet UV, s radiation for a different period of times. The rubber used is a recycled or wasted rubber material; powder and crumb rubber. Also, it includes a review of practical trials on many sites. The aim of this paper is to study the effect of crumb rubber on the aging performance of asphalt mixture for a wearing surface layer with two types of hot mixtures subjected to UV radiations. The results conclude that both ductility decreases by 38% and 40% for type A and B; respectively. The penetration is 28.21 and 12.78 for type A and B that indicate the high performance of type A against temperature in natural case and after time exposure. Also, ductility of Type A is more than Type B for all exposure times. So, it can conclude that Type A has temperature stiffness more than type B and is suitable for using in countries with high temperatures.
